On June 19, 2026, Trang presented joint SOHAS research with LEE Ruda at the Korean Association of Asian Studies (KAAS) conference.
The study, “Adoption and Repurposing of the K-pop Model: The Case of Vietnam’s Popular Music Industry,” examines how K-pop is repurposed in different contexts in Vietnam. It moves beyond the emphasis on K-pop’s global diffusion that characterizes much existing scholarship.
The research also contributes to debate on K-pop’s potential as a production model or genre beyond the national designation implied by the “K”.
